What are Same-Day Dental Crowns?
Same-day dental crowns, typically referred to as CEREC crowns, are made in-office using a state-of-the-art technology. The technology takes a detailed electronic impression of your teeth so that we can create the crown for you while you sit in our office and wait. This prevents the need for second or even third visits, since all of the work can be done in one convenient appointment. Same-day crowns are durable and can last for many years.
Why would you need a Same-Day Dental Crown?
You may need a crown if one or more of your teeth have become severely decayed, has broken or chipped or has a large filling that has cracked the actual tooth. Crowns can last for anywhere from five to 15 years, so you’re able to enjoy a restoration that provides lasting stability and integrity to an otherwise compromised tooth. Same-day crowns are beneficial in that they are done in the same day as your initial appointment.
What should I expect after getting a dental crown?

What makes you a candidate for Same-Day Dental Crowns?
Most patients are great candidates for same-day dental crowns. These crowns are made using durable material that can last for years with proper care. They can be made to fit any tooth in the mouth and are created using digital impressions. The technology is astounding when compared to taking actual impressions and working with a local laboratory.
What can you expect during the procedure for Same-Day Dental Crowns?
You’ll first receive anesthetic to begin the crown procedure. Dr. Redfearn will prepare the tooth so that it is able to sit the crown comfortably. Digital impressions are taken and put into the CEREC machinery to begin creating your new crown. In a short period of time, your new crown is made and will be placed over the area that was prepared. The crown may need to be adjusted slightly and you’ll be able to go home. You won’t need to come back for the permanent crown to be placed because you already have it in your mouth.
