What are Dentures and Partials?
Dentures and partials are prosthetic appliances that are worn to replace many or all of your teeth. It is not uncommon for patients to need these appliances when they have gum disease that has affected the health of their teeth. In other cases, a partial or full denture may be required because of trauma or severe decay. Partial dentures involve an appliance that just contains the teeth that are missing. A full denture replaces all of the teeth on one complete arch.
Why would you need Dentures and Partials?
You may need a full or partial denture if you’re missing many of your natural teeth or do not have any of your teeth. In many cases, some teeth may need to be extracted prior to being fitted for a denture because they are decayed or severely loose due to periodontal disease. Implants can sometimes be used to keep the full denture in place, but this requires more advanced treatment.

What makes you a good candidate for Dentures and Partials?
Dentures and partials are ideal for most patients who need them. The appliance is removable, so you can soak it at night to keep it clean and smelling fresh. The denture can last for up to seven years before it’ll need to be fully replaced. Dentures of all kinds are made by professional dental technicians who match the color and shape of the denture to your current smile.
What can you expect when having Dentures and Partials made for you?
If teeth need to be removed prior to the denture being made, this is done beforehand. Once the gums have been given time to heal fully, we’ll take impressions of your mouth and send them off to a local lab. Lab techs work to create a realistic denture plate that will fit your mouth perfectly. You’ll come back into our office and have the denture placed. We’ll make some slight adjustments to correct the bite and fit so that you’re happy with your new appliance. If at any time you break or crack your denture, come in and we can work to get it repaired.
