Invisalign
What exactly is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a type of orthodontic treatment that does not use or involve metal brackets or wires. Instead, you’ll be fitted for clear aligner trays that are worn for most of the day and night. These trays apply pressure to the teeth, essentially pushing them into a more uniform alignment. Invisalign is ideal for teens and adults who want braces but don’t want a mouth full of metal.
Why would you need or want Invisalign?
Invisalign is great for teens as well as adult patients who want to benefit from braces but don’t want to worry about bulky metal wires and brackets. The system is easy to utilize and is completely removable. This enables you to brush and floss your teeth completely when removing the tray. You’ll need to make sure that the trays are worn for 22 hours or more a day for treatment to be effective.

What makes you a good candidate for Invisalign?
Invisalign is a great option for most patients and we here at Fit to Smile Dental feel that it is a superior choice when compared to other orthodontic options. It’s ideal for patients who have crowded or crooked teeth and are ready to transform the way that they look. Invisalign is especially beneficial to professional adults who want to straighten their teeth but can’t risk wearing metal braces because of their corporate image. The system works well for most of our patients and we can help to determine if it’s right for you with a consultation.
What can you expect with typical Invisalign treatment?
Once you’ve had a consultation with us, we’ll get you scheduled to begin treatment. Treatment begins with impressions, which are taken to create your custom aligner trays. Your trays need to be worn for 22 to 24 hours every single day. We recommend taking them out while you’re eating and it’s crucial that you still take them out to brush your teeth underneath. You’ll have to come back into our office every few weeks to have new trays made for you. The process of straightening your teeth can take anywhere from six months to about two years depending on your orthodontic needs.
